Cape Town

Wobble Through The Mother City  Of Cultural Diversity

THE PROJECT

—

The city branding project involves developing a visual identity for “Cape Town”, the capital city located in the Western province of South Africa. It is recognized as a ‘mother city’ with its alluring cultural attractions and heritage sites. With its unique mix of people, culture, and language, it defines the ethnicity of South Africa today. Representing Cape Town, the logo uses the famous icon: an illustration of the penguin. The crescent shapes of the design synonymously define the beach waves with the city and the colours are chosen to represent the sunset, as well as the ocean scenery.

The art brand is based on the patterns of South African cultures. With all different types of shapes and lines, each symbol represents a meaning. It could be spirits, power, knowledge, history, and fortune.

There are unique icons that represent the city’s various cultural districts. The colours of the circular shapes depict the sunset and the azure sky. Just like how penguins wobble from coast to coast, the word “wobble” in the tagline highlights the concept to explore a variety of breathtaking beach houses and landscapes in the city. This includes beach houses of Camps Bay, Muslim neighbourhood, Lion’s Head Peak, and high rise apartments of downtown in the city.
